Cia Thorne has been reinventing the architecture of glass for over 25 years. After training at the California College of the Arts, Thorne later attended Pilchuck to study under the renowned glass maestro Pino Signoretto. She was invited to Corning to take a master goblet making class with Bill Gudenrath in 2015. Exhancing her diverse skill set she took a sculpting class with Martin Janecky at Urban Glass, in 2016. She has worked alongside noted glass masters Elodie Holmes and Lucy Lyon, and currently resides at Liquid Light Glass in Santa Fe.

In her own words
"The combination of steel and glass seem to be opposing materials. Glass has the unique ability to invite us into the inner experience. Steel takes up space as a solid presence. The complexity of the relationship has opened up new levels of seeing and brought a connection between these abstract forms. This series is letting me break apart forms to create a story.”
